Started to tidy up the sides of the ports with a sharp knife again ensuring I did not encroach on the cut lines finally finishing off with the the fine sanding stick.... Cool .. It is important to sand the sides of the port in the right sequence, the port is 13mm wide and the sanding stick is 12mm so you must sand the upper and lower edges first to the marked lines, you should then be able to turn the stick 90 degrees to then sand the sides.... Cool Cool .. Finally using the port jig, the jig being 12x12mm should slide snuggly into the port and the level will also be confirmed.... Cool Cool

There, See!

Told you you could do it!BigGrin That's coming on brilliantly, the only thing I'd caution (but it might be just the photo) is to watch you don't dremel too close to the lines, those things can spin off course in half a second!!
Very well done Alan.

Thanks for the very nice comment Robin.... BigGrin BigGrin .. I know exactly what you are saying and I did do a number of practice cut outs on scrap planks before letting the dremel anywhere near the build.... BigGrin BigGrin .. You are of course correct, if you don't keep a firm grip of the tool or try to cut away too much at once then yes, it can spin out of control..... BigGrin ..Would recommend builders carry out practice cuts first if using this tool..... Good advice Robin and thanks again.... BigGrin BigGrin

Alan

Finally finished cutting out the ports on one side.. Blink Blink .. Had to lower 2 ports on the top deck which was a pain Mad Mad . My own fault and should have been paying more attention.... embarassed to say but I used the wrong side of the rule (the inches side) to get the position of the port bases Blushing Blushing Blushing ... Any corrections to the ports that may be necessary can now be done when the second planking layer is being done and when they are being lined..... Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

BigGrin Hi Alan
Looking good there, as for the mistake with the ruler I think at some time or other we have all done it, plus no real harm done as you say all can be rectified with the secondary planking hiding anything
