Started to tidy up the sides of the ports with a sharp knife again ensuring I did not encroach on the cut lines finally finishing off with the the fine sanding stick.... .. It is important to sand the sides of the port in the right sequence, the port is 13mm wide and the sanding stick is 12mm so you must sand the upper and lower edges first to the marked lines, you should then be able to turn the stick 90 degrees to then sand the sides.... .. Finally using the port jig, the jig being 12x12mm should slide snuggly into the port and the level will also be confirmed.... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Have completed 7 ports and felt that was enough for tonight... Any minor adjustments can be made now when it comes to lining the ports.... Happy building all.... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

There, See! Told you you could do it! That's coming on brilliantly, the only thing I'd caution (but it might be just the photo) is to watch you don't dremel too close to the lines, those things can spin off course in half a second!! Very well done Alan. Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

Very well done Alan. Robin Thanks for the very nice comment Robin.... .. I know exactly what you are saying and I did do a number of practice cut outs on scrap planks before letting the dremel anywhere near the build.... .. You are of course correct, if you don't keep a firm grip of the tool or try to cut away too much at once then yes, it can spin out of control..... ..Would recommend builders carry out practice cuts first if using this tool..... Good advice Robin and thanks again.... Regards Alan

Kind Regards Nigel Thank you for the very nice comment Nigel, I really appreciate it.... .. As this is my first build I try to think the processes through before committing to the build, read a lot of diaries of other builds to see how things are done.... .. So far am happy to say things appear to be working out for me but no doubt something will get me somewhere down the line, hope not but am prepared for it.... .. Thanks again.... Best regards Alan

Finally finished cutting out the ports on one side.. .. Had to lower 2 ports on the top deck which was a pain . My own fault and should have been paying more attention.... embarassed to say but I used the wrong side of the rule (the inches side) to get the position of the port bases ... Any corrections to the ports that may be necessary can now be done when the second planking layer is being done and when they are being lined..... Hi Alan Looking good there, as for the mistake with the ruler I think at some time or other we have all done it, plus no real harm done as you say all can be rectified with the secondary planking hiding anything regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .
