Gandale wrote:Nicely pointed out Mike, thanks for that... Would suggest you take a look at the Italian forum around issue 43, this may have a bearing on what you are trying to achieve in adding the additional port at the bow and what will need to be modified further in on the build.... Can't post an image as I don't have permission from the copyright holder... Hope it helps. Regards Alan Hi Alan, thank you for drawing my attention to Issue 43 I have taken this into account when I planned the gun ports, I will be adding the trim on the stem modified slightly I am enjoying building this model so much because you can add so much of your own interpretation in to it. kind regards Mike MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

THE 13th GUNPORT After studying further models in the book by Sephton, I have resited the gun port 10mm further back, on my model. This has meant cutting away part of rib 2 on the side, which in my opinion has been well worth it have a look at the photos:- Kind regards Mike MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.

Great work Mike, been thinking out this mod and think it is one I will do without.... Just not sure what problems it is likely to cause further down the line plus I do like the ornamentation at the bow..... Love what you are doing though..... Regards Alan

DRESSING THE TRANSOM Here is an update of my Transom modification work, please note this again is my interpretation of how I wish my build to progress. I have used walnut and box wood together on the transom, and the treenailing is done using cocktail sticks, in doing the treenailing I have tried not to be to even, infact some look at random because I want my ship to look well worn and not just launched, if that makes sense? I have used a piece of 2mm x 5mm walnut soaked it and bent it on the ship while it was still wet at the area where the Gallery back panel joins the Transom Planking. I hope the photos tell the story:- MWG attached the following image(s): MWG BUILD DIARIES: HMS VICTORY, SOVEREIGN OF THE SEAS, SAN FRANCISCO II, HMS HOOD, HMS ENDEAVOUR LONGBOAT, HMS VICTORY X-SECTION, 007 DB5, NISSAN GTR, CUTTY SARK, RB7, AKAGI, BARK HMS ENDEAVOUR, HUMMER H1, MITSUBISHI ZERO.
