Well, here we go again! I started this model in 2009. Since then I've bought my first house, my first cat, my first dog and got married! Sadly this meant that for the last 2 years or so life has got in way of any modelling time and the Suprise has sat on my desk looking lonely. Even Model Space has given up on me, as my original thread seems to have disappeared! Anyroad, I'm back on the wagon for the time being so thought it was high time to start up my progress thread again. Here's a couple of snaps of how she currently looks and the last bit of work I've done - namely the grand cabin floor and walls/doors. I'm currently making myself blind trying to rig cannons. Any advice on how on earth to thread the 0.15 rigging thread through the 3mm blocks would be much appreciated! Here's to more regular updates! Enjoy.

hi eccles, welcome back long time no see,as for the threading of blocks and bolt eyes ect. try using a fine needle threader, very cheap,or do as I do,a tiny bit of superglue on the end of the thread and spread it it about 20mm. and then cut at an angle to give a point on the thread, and bingo good luck k. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

For the Cannons I used a synthetic polyester outdoor thread. The stuff that comes with the model sucks. The polyester is so strong you can't break it with your fingers. On the downside, you need to dab it with CA glue to keep the knot from undoing. To me it's well worth it knowing that my threads won't break under just about any circumstance.
BTW, looks great so far. Keep up the good work!

Good luck, my dog ate most of my cannon wheels and my wife demands I clear the table for meals. So much easier to model when single!
