More sails ....

Do not follow me on this, because this is not according to the instructions:
I used a small sail as the mizzen staysail in order not to obstruct the view of the quarter deck.
I put the larger sail on top, where it overlaps with the sail in the middle. But I guess that's ok!
That's just my personal taste (however, I remember that there has been some discussion about this in this forum).

Moreover, again disregarding the instructions, I exchanged the jib and flying jib sails, that is, I took the smaller sail for the jib and the larger one for the flying jib sail.
(Here, my personal taste is in line with the Victory model on the title page of the magazine - here too the flying jib is the bigger than the jib)

Meanwhile, the situation on the belaye pins is already a bit confusing

And here is another overview

Cheers,
Bernd

Most of the sails have lots of threads for reefing. They tend to stand out in all directions

I tried to tame them with masking tape

Then I applied thinned PVA glue to fix them. After that, one can adjust their length

I tried to give the sails an old look by soaking it with tea (I found it very appropriate to use a mixture of Earl Grey and gunpowder tea)

Kind regards,
Bernd

hi bernd, top notch stuff, I like your idea's on the sails, you don't have to follow the sail configuration,as the sails were swopped around and reefed all the time on the real thing, also the rigging was also messed about with, the one golden rule is, standing rigging does not go to any of the bits,it is always anchored to the decks with pulleys and eyebolts, have you tried staining the sails with various coffee's?? good luck and keep up the good work. k.

Hi Benrd

Thank you very much for posting your build with so many details , I enjoyed your log very much and wold like to use a few of your ideas on my build of the HMS Victory via AL. I especially like your DecorativElementsts on your trim. Is it possible for you to give me the with of the wood that you used to make these fantastic details.
