When planking the underside, I'm finding it difficult to pin the first planks to the first bow former as they are so thin through tapering. Anyone got any ideas on the best way to do it other than sitting their holding them till the glue dries sufficiently.

Also, anyone know where I can get loads of cheap nasty brushes for gluing work as i'm ruining mine Angry

map pins mate, get them at the pound shop or any office supplies or even e-bay,you don't pin through the wood, you pin at the sides. or you could use plank clamps, a bit more expensive though. k.

Cheers Karl,

I actually have some of those pins on a cork noticeboard I've got. Just tried one quickly and it works great.

Thanks mate.

EDIT: Actually, the ones I have are push pins. Are they thicker than map pins?

Push Pins is the correct name for what a lot of people refer to as Map Pins and are what you should use as they are thick enough not to give way as you push them into the Ribs and have a large head to overlap the plank edge. Map Pins are like dressmakers pins but very short and with a little coloured bobble head, although I have seen them with a little flag as well, they are not strong enough to push into the ply and the spherical head wouldn't hold the plank very well.
