Regards, Bernd Thanks for the warm comment Bernd... .. At the moment it is my intention to trenail the whole hull... long process but do believe it will be worth the effort.... .. Thanks for looking in.... Regards Alan

Trimmed up all the ports and the bow area, still have to trim the stern and the hull tops... that will come a lot later... .. Word of caution to those following on behind, the Sepele strips are very very brittle and don't like to be cut against the grain... the strips splinter very very easily so be very cautious.... .. Even a new blade on my knife didn't make it any easier.... So pleased I did a few test cuts first which identified the problem, in the end I resorted back to my trusty Dremel but was extra cautious to keep control of the cutting bit.... .. Trenailing process has started, going to be a long process... .. will post pics of that later... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Hi Alan
Beautifull, i really like the effect doing by the permanent marker.

If you decide to go down the same route then just ensure you finely sand the edges of the strips... it doesn't stop the marker bleeding into the wood completely but it does help to minimise it.... Trenailing now underway.. using the dremel with a .5mm drill bit drilled holes for the cocktail sticks... .. dipped the point of the sticks into alphatic glue then inserted into the predrilled holes.... Once dry trimmed them down using a very sharp knife.... .. Finally, sanded using P320 sandpaper... Very pleased with how it is turning out, the trenailing is very subtle which was the effect I was after... Spacing between trenails is around 15mm, also didn't want it to look too uniformal so did vary the distances slightly..... .. Lots more to do before the upper hull is complete, I recon a couple of nights work anyways.... Hope you like the pics.. Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Coming on beautifully there Alan! The trenailing is nice and subdued as you said, a lovely effect! Those cocktail sticks are really useful 'aint they! With your Unimat ( ) you can whip up the balustrades AND use both ends for trenails!! Looking great! Have kept all the used cocktail sticks and will be having a go at making up balustrades by following your excellent tutorial.... .. If I can get them as good as yours then I'll be one happy chappy..... Regards Alan

Hi Bernd... .. Just for your info, I will be planking the lower hull in Walnut and yes, trenailing that too but with just plain old fashioned cocktail sticks..... The only thing I can tell you about them is that they will be wooden and not plastic..... Thanks again, appreciate your comments.. Regards Alan

Trenailing continues and now believe I should take up a new profession in acupuncture.... .. Really mind numbing doing all this trenailing but still feel it will be well worth the effort... and to think I still have the other side of the hull to do yet.... ... Thanks for looking in..
