Hi Alan!
A very nice planking, the treenailing will be looking fantastic! Do you want to make a treenailing also for the lower body?

Regards, Bernd

Thanks for the warm comment Bernd... BigGrin BigGrin .. At the moment it is my intention to trenail the whole hull... long process but do believe it will be worth the effort.... BigGrin BigGrin .. Thanks for looking in....

Regards

Alan

Trimmed up all the ports and the bow area, still have to trim the stern and the hull tops... that will come a lot later... BigGrin BigGrin .. Word of caution to those following on behind, the Sepele strips are very very brittle and don't like to be cut against the grain... the strips splinter very very easily so be very cautious.... Mellow Mellow .. Even a new blade on my knife didn't make it any easier.... So pleased I did a few test cuts first which identified the problem, in the end I resorted back to my trusty Dremel but was extra cautious to keep control of the cutting bit....Cool Cool .. Trenailing process has started, going to be a long process...Blink Blink .. will post pics of that later...BigGrin BigGrin

Regards

Alan

Thanks for looking in Bengas, pleased you like the effect... BigGrin BigGrin .. If you decide to go down the same route then just ensure you finely sand the edges of the strips... it doesn't stop the marker bleeding into the wood completely but it does help to minimise it....BigGrin BigGrin

Trenailing now underway.. using the dremel with a .5mm drill bit drilled holes for the cocktail sticks...Cool Cool .. dipped the point of the sticks into alphatic glue then inserted into the predrilled holes.... Once dry trimmed them down using a very sharp knife....Cool Cool .. Finally, sanded using P320 sandpaper... Very pleased with how it is turning out, the trenailing is very subtle which was the effect I was after... Spacing between trenails is around 15mm, also didn't want it to look too uniformal so did vary the distances slightly..... Cool Cool .. Lots more to do before the upper hull is complete, I recon a couple of nights work anyways....BigGrin BigGrin

Hope you like the pics..

Regards

Alan

Coming on beautifully there Alan! The trenailing is nice and subdued as you said, a lovely effect! Cool

Those cocktail sticks are really useful 'aint they! BigGrin
With your Unimat (Cursing ) you can whip up the balustrades AND use both ends for trenails!!

Looking great!

Thanks again, appreciate your comments..
