Planking going a little slowly just now mainly because I am taking my time and secondly am only able to spend just over an hour an evening working on her...Cursing Cursing .. Would love to do more but afraid just now the time isn't there.... Hoping to push on a little at the weekend.... Cool Cool .. Still, it will take as long as it takes.... Here's a couple of pics just to show progress. Think she will look great once sanded and varnished..BigGrin BigGrin ... BigGrin BigGrin

That is really impressive planking there Alan, the bow tapering especially is so graceful and shows off the hull curve beautifully.
! Cool
Well done. (And I'm really glad I'm painting my VIc!)BigGrin

I have got to hand it to you Alan, that planking is astounding for a first timer!!!!BigGrin BigGrin .Just one minor point and it is minor, when you taper your next plank for the bow,try and do it in a bit of an arc. When you look at the last plank you have laid it has a flat spot to it.I'm sorry if I sound nitpicky but if you do this you will have just about PERFECT runs to the planks when viewed from all angles.
Kind Regards Nigel

Thank you very much Nigel, a compliment like that tells me I am on the right track...BigGrin BigGrin .. Please continue to be nitpicky, if my errors are not pointed out to me then how could I ever expect to improve on the skills needed....Cool Cool .. Now that you have pointed it out I do see the slight flat spot and it was something I hadn't noticed...Blink Blink Will see how the next plank wants to run and will have a go at correcting it... I did find the last plank laid was probably the easiest one so far, it just simply slipped into place without any adjustments...Cool Cool .. Am finding it a little tricky in places but taking my time to get the best possible fit.... More to follow tomorrow so thanks again and thanks for looking in.... BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

Time for a quick update. Carried on with second planking of the lower hull and have now completed the first 15 rows, all except one final strake to attach to the stern which will be a little time consuming so will leave that one for tomorrow.... Cool Cool .. I am still determined to complete this without any planks tapering to a point, so far so good... Tomorrow, next plank to lay is the garboard plank then hopefully plain sailing from then on.... Once treenailed, lightly sanded and varnished I feel she is going to look like something I am going to be very happy with....BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin.. Pics of the stern look a little darker than they actually are.... having flash problems with the camera....Cursing Cursing

Thanks for looking in.. Cool Cool

Regards

Alan
