Some help please all you experts out there

I have reached the heady heights of issue 105 and am starting on the sails. There is already a lot of rigging installed and my question is regarding the routing of the additional rigging starting with the foresail yard. As a general rule should any additional rigging be routed so as not to foul what is already installed? I do not find the pictures in the Mag too illuminating and common sense suggests that you dont just place the newest rigging across what is already running up and down close to the masts but in some cases it must be placed behind what is alredy in situ

Hope this makes sense

PS a glossery of rigging terms would be helpful for this landlubber. Some are self evedent but what is the "eye" of the fore stay

Hi Gil,
I can recommend a good book which covers every aspect of sailing ship rigging and may help you with regard to your request for a glossary of rigging terms.
TITLE: The Art of Rigging
AUTHOR: George Biddlecombe
It can be purchased through Amazon where it is priced at £7.55
I have this book myself and found it very informative.
Hope this helps and happy building
David
