That really is great news and when restored it will be something to be proud of - the ONLY intact example in the world - and it will be in Britain!!
Looking forward to the successful raising of the engines and other parts.

Hi The bbc reports say that this is going to be restored - but I have read also that this will be preserved "as is" for display alongside the wreckage of the hurricane shot down around the same time. Anyone know which is correct? The word "restored" tends to give the impression that it will be displayed in a complete and operational looking state, but in fact I think it will just be treated to halt the corrosion and that's all. Steve

Yes this plane is to be shown as wreckage. As, if you think about it, if the museum replace all the 'bits' it would be more like a replica than the actual plane.
So ergo you could compare against the Mary Rose exhibit. Which I hope to visit one day.
