I am looking at the possibility of obtaining the kit for Hatchette's Build the Hood series and I can start a subscription from issue 76. They have all the previous issues available as back issues that I can purchase in bulk however they are out of stock on issues 1 and 4. Does anyone out there who has been building this kit have these issues as spares they would be willing to sell... Long shot I know but thought I would ask, it would be a shame to lose this one on just 2 issues... Been on Ebay with no luck.

Regards

Alan

Can help with issue 1...for some reason they sent me 2 copies...only got the parts not the mag, kept parts for spare woodLOL
Issue 4 is bound to turn up before long, don't know if you noticed but you could possibly if you had the spare cash save yourself quite a bit of money,

Thanks Rob, will keep you in mind while I keep trying to source issues 4 and 24. Did notice the sales on Ebay and with postage and packing I would be saving a total of 23 quid. Have emailed Hatchettes asking whether this is a possibility of these out of stock issues coming back in stock so will have to wait and see what they respond with... Have also thought about scratch building the missing parts but would need to know what the contents were and of course some dimensions.... Thanks again, 1 down 2 to go... LOL LOL

Issue 24 is just a load of planks..easily obtainable, issue 4 is a fret....would a scan of the fret assist in any way to making your own parts?
Forgot to mention ..4 also has 2 5mmx10mmx 210(ish) bars,,again should be easily obtainable.

Hi Rob, thank you very much for the assist with this and think we may be able to move forward with this kit. Having looked at the build pics in MWG's diary it would appear the parts contained in issues 2 and 4 are identical with the exception of the 2 long bars you mentioned and a part 'K'... If this is indeed the case then I should be able to order two of issue 2 and fabricate the other parts easily enough.. Would you be able to confirm if the ribs in both issues are in fact identical or not. Plus do you know of any other numbered issues simply contain planks, again I could order two of that issue and I think we would be there.... Would possibly be asking you to also scan the build instructions for issue 4. Its all looking quite positive now...

Thanks again, its very much appreciated.

Sorry what with one thing or another I kept forgetting to check. No the ribs arent the same, not much in it but they are different, you could I suppose order 2 x issue 2,split the frames down the middle then add a section,or if you have access to a scroll saw/band saw then cut your own parts out of ply,I have made a scan of the parts & stuck them to plasterboard(didnt have anything else to hand!) & quite easily cut the pieces out with my scroll saw so it is do-able.
As far as extra planks go then issue 25 is all planks as well.
Yes a scan of the instructions is easy.
Just pm me with what you would like me to send you & I will get it sorted.

Hi Rob, firstly thank you very much for all you have offered and done. Think the problems have now been resolved but proof will be when everything lands on my doorstep... Have subscribed from issue 76 and on emailing Hatchette about the 3 missing issues and of course me offering to purchase all back issues in bulk sort of did the trick.. looks like they managed to find copies of issues 1 & 4 and were confident they could get me 24 too so with that the order was placed... Once again thanks very much for your efforts, it truly is appreciated. Will let you know how it goes when the package arrives and whether these missing issues are included.....

Best regards

Alan
