Just bouncing some ideas around here.
I'm a little undecided on how to finish the hull. The magazines suggestion of white just looks too harsh for me. I was thinking maybe of using the same burgundy that the launch uses.
What options are you guys considering?

Not really thought about it but I would be interested in thoughts on other than white. Its probably the hardest colour to get looking good. especially since I'll be brush painting it.

I used what is termed as an 'heirloom white' for the very same reason, which is an off white.

Hi Rob
The legendary Keith Julier always used to use Dulux Barley white.You used to be able to buy it in tester pots,don't know if that is still the case.

Personally I'm not a fan of the White Hull look. So I am going to go for a natural Wood finish of Maple. In the days before Copper Sheathing Hulls were painted with various concoctions to prevent Fouling with Weed, Barnacles and to reduce Ship Worm damage. The palest of these 'White Stuff' was a mix of Sulphur, Whale Oil and Pine Resin so would have been a kind of pale dirty brown rather than any sort of white. It was called 'White Stuff' to distinguish it from 'Black Stuff' which was Tar based rather than a reference to it's colour.
