Hi Everyone,

I started collecting the "Build the Victory" Issues 16 months ago and had intended to start my build straight away but fell ill and its taken me a while to get to a point where I can get started. Luckily, I have a darling wife Love who still purchased my weekly Issue even when things weren't to looking too good. So I'm sitting here with 63 issues, fighting fit (well sort of) and ready to go.

Even though I have been unwell, I have still been following everyone's build and I can't believe some of the things I am seeing. The skill set shown by all of you is unmatched and I only wish my build will look half as good as all of yours.

Ok!! Here we Go.

The first thing I have made is my Jig (all thanks to Son Of Bulwark for his fantastic design). I also intend to add a rope walk, a padded Cradle and possibly make my own basic lathe to attach to this Jig but I am still waiting for some parts to complete these.

Things may be a little slow at the start but I will update whenever I can.

Steve

Good to hear your fighting fit and ready to take on Vic. If you pay the same level of attention to your build as your jig it should be superb.

Good luck and keep us updated

Welcome back Perksy and best of luck with your delayed build. That's a beautiful looking jig, I just love the look of something built with clean new timber! Cool

Best wishes

Hi Guys, sorry for delay in uploading some more photos but was waiting for some replacement parts, One bulkhead and both my fore and aft sections of the keel had so much warp they were heading out of the galaxy. But great job Deag, had the replacement keels within a few weeks and the bulkhead I soaked and clamped to straighten. Unfortunately, I lost a few photos of setting the keel somewhere along the way, but was pretty standard stuff.

Fore Section warp.

Bulkhead Warp.

Straightening the Bulkhead.

Setting the Keel.

Crying Doh!!! Missing Photos.

I have decided to add supports under the cross beams which are made from
7 x 7 Tassie Oak cut to 22mil long pinned and glued to the lower deck. As I'm not doing the cutout version I don't have to be to particular at this stage just ensuring the support beams are level. But I like do the Idea of the extra support they give.

Thats it for now.

Hi Perksey,BigGrin

Nice to see your progress and it looks good.I`ve yet to set up my keel and ribs as concentrating on the Sovereign at present, but the use of the laser level looks like it`s paying dividends Cool

Looking great, Perksy! BigGrin
Had the same problem with warping sections. Tried my best to correct it, but didn't succeed completely. Well, in the end it wasn't that much of a problem. Btw, nice laser equipment! Drool

LOL

Funny what you can find in a $2 shop. I went in to buy a cheap soldering
iron to make an electric plank bender and saw it for $7.00. Its cheap plastic and I wouldn't use it in my garage or throw it around. I had already looked at them at Bunnings but they were far to expensive(over $100.00).

Great tool for making sure you have straight lines.

I'm an electrician and have a couple of laser levels, but just haven't
seen one that small.
