To all the POTS fans, here she is..... the long awaiting return of the Porcupine of the Seas... .. Now this has been a laborious task to say the least but feel sure it will turn out the way I hope it will..... Tomorrow hopefully will see her trimmed back and lightly sanded... .. 1900 sticks used, 3800 holes drilled and filled and am so glad I have the optivisors or else I would still be at it now.... Anyone who says she looks great should definately go to specsavers.... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Stu Thanks for taking the time to look in and comment Stujue, very much appreciated... .. Has taken all evening simply to cut the cocktail sticks back and believe it or not.... gave me a blister on my finger while doing it.. ... Still, you know what they say.... No pain, no gain eh.... Regards Alan

Just a quick update.... Trimmed back all the cocktail sticks, another tedious task out of the way.... .. Tomorrow will get on with the first sanding, clean up and preparing the other side for the second planking layer..... .. More of the same to come... .. Have to say I am more than pleased with results so far but can see some areas could have been done better.... Still, other side is the side I intend to put on show.... Hi Alan Looking forward to seeing it sanded. One thing I found doing my copper treenailing was I could cut it off much closer to the hull with nail clippers than sidecutters.Don't know how this would fair with cocktail sticks. Kind Regards Nigel

Kind Regards Nigel Thanks Nigel, did use side cutters but found when sanding the upper hull, the cocktail sticks are easy to sand down and will take no time at all really..... .. Will have a go with nail clippers for the other side and see how it works out..... .. Watch this space and I'll let you know... Regards Alan

Today happy to say I have now completed one side of the hull, all sanded down and very very smooth all over.... .. Gave it a clean with a little white spirit with no ill effects. Have also sanded the other side of the lower hull to roughen up the sanding sealer I put on, this I did to give me a key for the second planking to adhere to and this is hopefully what I will start tomorrow evening.... .. Am really happy with how it has turned out...well worth every hour spent on her... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):
