I've noticed that the guys are making use of different kinds of wood in the build of which is not supplied with the kit. Where in South Africa can you find wood such as box, lime, pear and maple in quantities big, or must I say small, enough for model building? Or must we import if we want to go the same route as eg Nigel or Alan? Regards Kobus

Kobus, Try Silverton Timbers, they have all sorts of imported timbers. You'll have to cut it to size yourself but that's not difficult. All the best, Grizzly

Hi Kobus A lot of experience builders cut their own wood, using a band saw, circular saw and a thicknesser. Look at the following sites where there is a lot of information. http://mysite.verizon.net/ELLshipmodeler/

Got some wood from Jix Hobbies in Menlyn yesterday, i.e. walnut, cherry and yellow heart. The size is 3 x 75 x 600 mm (1/8" x 3" x 24"). They also have a 1/16" thickness. Regards Kobus
