Most gracious comments Garth and Derek. It is really appreciated.
Busy with the ratlines at present. Nightmare to say the least. Glued the shrouds with superglue instead of pva. Clever at the time, not so clever now. However have the solution in hand and it's going better now. Marked the line across with a small piece of chalk, used a broken sewing machine needle in the Dremel as a bit, cut a groove into the bottom of a wine cork and used it at the back of the shroud to hold it in place while I "drilled" a hole for the ratline. Pulled the line through with a needle threader. Works like a charm. Problem solved. Still takes a hellava long time and patience.Rgds, Hans "It's okay to make mistakes. mistakes are our teachers - they help us to to learn, even if it is painfully" Current Build: Endeavour Cross section,D51 Completed: HMS Victory Under the bench: Endeavour x 2,Sovereign of the Seas, Akagi and The Black Pearl!HMS Victory Cross Section

Just a quick update. Picked up a problem when attaching the ratlines and realised the main chainwales were mixed up starboard and port. Moral of the story, spend the next six hours, dismantle the shrouds, staboard and port sides, pull off the chainwales, reassemble chainwales, reassemble shrouds starboard and port side. Happy with the final result. Now back to fitting the ratlines. Hi Hans. It doesn't matter how many times we check things, something will always slip through and when it does it's always something so obvious it (later) stands out like a sore thumb! Glad you've managed to correct your problem and the best of luck! Looking forward to more of your build! Thanks for your comments Alan, Robin and Steve. All sorted now, just pushing on with the ratlines. Steve, the shrouds and ratlines are not as bad as what we make out. It just requires a lot of concentration and careful work. I try not to rush it, but sometimes my patience wears a little thin. I have completed the bottom of the foremast and darn it looks good, so it is worth it. best of luck for when you start. great job there hans, a little invaluable tip when using needle to push through the shrouds, if you have hair on your head,(sorry no other way to put it) run the point of the needle through your hair, and it lubricates the point of the needle, making it so much easier to push through. Looking good!!!
Garth Thank you Garth. Mistakes just make you aware that you are sometimes not so clever and don't read/measure twice or thrice before cutting/ fitting. Love the hobby so much that it is more frustrating than anything else, but knowing that it can be corrected.
