Hi Moriarty, I love to see a mediocre model being dismatled and undergo a complete overhaul to a thing of beauty.... This build certainly fits that bill.... simply beautiful work and a credit to you..... Regards Alan

Thanks for the comments guys. I am trying to make this one 10 times better than the original and with no plans at hand, a lot of help and ideas from the other Victory builds across the forum have helped no end in getting it this far. I am afraid to say that she is on hold for the time being due to a house move and the workspace I use being dismantled to be reborn some where else. I will be back once everything is settled and I can build again. My internet will be down for a short time also but I will be back in time with a new flat and a new woman to share the building of models. Thanks again everyone for the encouragement and keep on building guys, you are all craftsmen in your own right. HMS Surprise HMS Snake HMS Bounty HMS Royal Caroline HMS Victory rebuild HMS Supply

Slowly getting back into the build boys, still looking for things in boxes but been concentrating on the main mast renovation. Added a fair amount of extra detail to the fighting tops and rigged it to go straight into the hole. Couple of bits and pieces to go on and then its ready for fitting. An update on the mast progress guys, been a bit slow on these cos the bits are everywhere with the move an things and still trying to work out whats what. Here is how it stands at the mo with enhanced braces in place. Next will be the foremast almost ready for permanent placing and rigging. Looking very good! Got to admire you for taking on a renovation when you could have started a new build, I am watching both the Vic renovations on this forum with interest. Out of curiosity, what is the black paint you are using? It looks a nice finish and not too glossy like the admiralty paint, is it just the camera or are you using a different brand? Steve

Hi Steve, the paint I use was some stuff that was purchased in Wickes for painting the fence. I salvaged some before she used it all and thinned it down a little. I keep it in an old curry jar and have used it on everything I have built so cost wise it has cost me nothin really. I dont believe in buying special paints at inflated prices and black is black in my book. HMS Surprise HMS Snake HMS Bounty HMS Royal Caroline HMS Victory rebuild HMS Supply

Just another update guys. Fore and main mast now in position and braced and the beginnings of the shrouds in place. Been studying a lot of other builds for info and detail for the bowsprit. Its been slow progress mainly due to the move and sorting things out but should start to get quicker. Just another view. Total outlay is now on the £60 mark due to the purchase of some more cord. HMS Surprise HMS Snake HMS Bounty HMS Royal Caroline HMS Victory rebuild HMS Supply
