Hi all Im about to start marking off the gun ports. ive used a spare plank as a ref for the position of the bottom edge. this line isnt level over the length of the hull and curves with the lower deck, and i wondering if the top and bottom edge of the gun port remains parallel with the ref line or do we make the fwd and aft edges of the gun ports parallel with the vertical frame lines. if so this will lift 1 corner off my ref line. Cheers Stu

Hi Stu The sides of the gunport should be vertical.Your batten is a brilliant idea to maintain the flow of ports when view from bow or stern. You will just have to lift one corner of your template to suit. Kind Regards Nigel

Hi, just a question, are the bottom edges for the gun ports going to be level with the deck behind? Reason I ask is that, if so, I am going to shine a light from the other side so I can follow the line of the deck precisely without fear of finding that I've gone wrong with my meaurements

Hi Stujui, very very nice work there and lovely idea with the guide plank.... .. The top and bottom of your gunports should run parallel with the water line and judging by the way you are doing it just now you shouldn't encounter any problems.... .. Good luck with it.... Regards Alan

Cheers mate, I guess it's going to be something like 2/3 mm higher then? I'm just a bit worried that I may have messed things up a bit, as I kind of did things my way, instead of following the instructions to the letter.
