I have a small (I hope) problem. I have been sailing along (excuse the pun) quite nicely building the Victory. I have now reached issue 19 and the fitting of the middle gun deck. As per intruction, which I am following to the letter,I fitted the deck parts with the part numbers facing down. I have found on doing this that the mast holes do not line up and are out by about 2 mm. If I fit them with the numbers face up they line up perfectly.
Has anyone else come across this prob, and if you have; what did you do?

BigGrin Hi Sinbad
I suggest maybe placing with the deck number up and planking over the offending numbers, I haven't built this model but im sure other members will advise in the best way around this

Hi Binbad,

I can't remember where the numbers are stamped but not much of the deck is seen. I put decking on mine by the entry so if the numbers were there I have covered them.
Cheers Brian

hi sinbad, sounds like you have a lopsided boat there mate, the decks should be identical and should be the same what ever way up they are. I suggest you start taking measurements of rib placings, try widening slightly the deck slots,so you can swap them around and SHOULD fit, recheck that the mast holes are CENTRAL with a very slight rake towards the stern.take time to get it right, and you will be rewarded, if you take a look at my build of the sovereign of the seas,I cover this aspect of the build.strarting at post 26.

Thought I'd let those who gave me advice on fitting the middle deck that it all worked out quite well. The mast holes were about a hair out but I fixed that by sliding a ball point pen down until they lined up (desperation is the mother of invention BigGrin ).
I've been sanding the side deck beams down to fit, for what seems to be ages.
