Guys I have been collecting issues at CNA every week. I am up to issue 12 so far and working on it. Here are a few pictures of the ship so far.. let me know your thoughts and more importantly, how are you coming along with the same parts... 1st pic: Top view of the ship 2nd pic: Started building the launch. this has proved to be very challenging because of the hull planking. This is the first time for me. 3rd pic: Adding in the sides on top of the lower deck. This was a challenge because of the bending required to get the side to fit into the ribs frames correctly. 4th pic: top view of the lower deck with sides 5th pic: Sides being clamped in. I left the clamps on for 2 days because of the bending required cuandv attached the following image(s): Current Build: HMS SOTS HMS Victory HMS Surprise

Great Kobus... I look forward to taking a look at your log. Being my first build, I have loads to learn. I am building the HMS Victory at the same time, so I give each one a break and work on the other. Current Build: HMS SOTS HMS Victory HMS Surprise

Hey Talisnam, If you get your pics to 800x600 size, then tick the ATTACH tickbox at the bottom before pressing the POST button. You will then be prompted to upload your images. If they are 800x600, they will show automatically on your post. Hope this helps? Cheers Current Build: HMS SOTS HMS Victory HMS Surprise

Hi Cuandv, a very big welcome to the forum and a very nice start you have made.... .. Like me, the SOTS is my first build and I have found a wealth on information on all the other members build diaries, especially on the SOTS, VIC and of course Mr T's official build... .. Would strongly recommend you have a look through these, it will help you avoid some of the pitfalls on route.... Good luck with your build and I look forward to seeing how you progress.... Regards Alan

Hi Alan, Its good to hear your thoughts. I will most certainly stick up more photos as I have also been sailing through many of the build diaries to get ideas, although I must admit some of workings are of my own ideas and some have failed miserably Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions as we go along, Your experience will most certainly help me and others along the way as well. Cheers Current Build: HMS SOTS HMS Victory HMS Surprise

I am from PAROW, CAPE TOWN, building the Sovereign. As a newbie to this type of hobbie, I had to do a lot of research on the net for tips and info. I am on issue 12 and found that the decks do not align horisontal in the slots. Luckily its not glue to the keel. I filed it to align perfectly. I need to know if the 1st deck section at the trans-am (part 21 : 33 is supposed to be at an angle of +-20 degrees? I would like to see side view photos of your build. Too bad you had already glued your parts together. I prefer to use re-enforcement blocks to sturdy the frame from distortion. I am dissappointed that this build does not make use of planking the decks like in the HMS Victory. I found by using a kettle to steam the planks, makes its very easy to bend it into shape. Steaming is also used in real life size builds. After the steaming is done, I am ready for a cupper. "Rather try and fail than had failed to try".Sovereign of the Seas Model Space forum: Marcel's build

Hi Marcel, I will take some side shots and get them up here soon. I was thinking about fillers inside the hull but I am not sure yet. Need to get my backside into gear. I am also building the Victory as well. In terms of the decking, What I am going to do is buy strips from a timber shop and get those decked onto the SOTS. I have decked the Victory and it makes the world of difference.. Happy Building. Cuan Current Build: HMS SOTS HMS Victory HMS Surprise
