Hi all. can anyone recomend a glue for the second layer of planks. PVA, Aliphatic, Superglue gel. or other cheers Stu Cheers Stu

Stu Hi Stu, I have used nothing but aliphatic for the second layer applied to the plank using a small paint brush. When fitting I would wipe off the excess with a damp lint free cloth.... It's worked very well for me.. if you go onto my diary you will see how its looking.....  .. Hope this helps.. Regards Alan

Thanks Alan. i have 2 sorts of aliphatic, one is the consistency of thick PVA and the other is quite watery, would you recommend the thinner one. cheers stu Cheers Stu

cheers stu Stu, I would rather go with the thicker consistency simply because there is always the possibility of the watery type glue seeping through the plank, remember the plank is very thin, only .5mm...  .. Do a small test piece using both glues and go with the one you prefer..... .. Hope this helps m8... Regards Alan

I agree that the thicker glue would be better, less moisture, so quicker grab and less likelihood of the strips warping. As to the choice between Aliphatic and Super Glue, I use both the Gel type CA and Aliphatic Resin. The Aliphatic Glue is easier and cleaner to use and is great for the majority of the planking, but for those tricky bits with a lot of twist or bend, which are also difficult to hold or pin I use the Gel Super Glue.
