Hi, finally finished the first section of Sapele planking. Pleased with the result so far, and hoping once sanded and varnished it will look much better. Now to start on the bottom half with the Basswood.   Thats it for now. Claret Also working on:

Hi All, More progress on the secondary planking. Taking a lot longer than anticipated, trying to ensure that the width of the planks does not taper below 1/2 a width. The bending of the basswood at the stern was done using a plank bending tool that basically forms creases in the wood. Did them very close together and did not exert to much pressure. In between glue drying I also started the tree nailing. What fun that is  I have decided only to treenail at the end of the planks (double) and around the cannon ports. Progress so far in the photo's below.    Claret Also working on:
