Hi Stu,

Sorry for not replying earlier, have been in mid Wales for my sons graduation.

The glue is the aliphatic type supplied by CMB. Alan (Gandale) has a photo in one of his posts.

I drill a 0.5mm hole and cut the cocktail stick in half before dipping the end in glue and inserting into the drilled hole.

Generally the stick is sharply tapered, but if not I have gently whittled the end to a point with a sharp scalpel.

Hope this helps.

Regards
Claret

Hi,

Just having a break from planking and tree nailing.

I glued the assembly together, let the glue cure, but as I am using 1mm grating, i had to put an additional cross member in to ensure all the holes were less than 33x33mm to fit the new grating.

i scored and pencilled the cross members to look like plank assemblies but struggled for treenails. I remebered I had some hornby track pins, they are very thin and worked a treat.

The photo shows the pins glued in place before cutting down.

More to follow soon. thanks for looking in.

Claret

Hi Admiral,

Thanks. They are only blackened on the surface, so bright metal once cut off, but still looks okay.

Hi,

Finished the first stage of the secondary planking, so glued the gallery supports ready to take the transom.

Whilst waiting for the glue to cure with the transom clamped in place, I did some more work on the bow beak.

I stained the wood with dark oak, giving it three coats. I also lined all the holes with basswood before starting to fit the 1mm grating I purchased from CMB's.

My progress so far is shown in the pics below.

Thanks for looking in.

Claret
