The interior and exterior of the ship's boat is painted in issue 15. The exterior is stated as ivory white, and the interior burgundy.
I plan to use Humbrol RC418 as the burgundy and RC417 as the ivory. This quote is on page 11 of the SOTS General build discussion. Hope this helps Regards Kobus

Hi Guys Did CNA stop stocking the magazine? They have no idea its not on da shelves. Plus they said it may have switched over to a fortnight, that means this project will take over 5 years. Regards CJ Current Build - HMS SOTS

Hello CJ
I have the same problem with them. I spoke to the woman managing the partworks and she said she will find out and give me a call on Thursday. If I find out something useful I will pass it on. Thought it was just me because I live in Namibia. Around here thing go slower.
With regards to the fortnight issue, I think they are just confused. CNA told me from the start that it would be published every two weeks but it came out weekly since the start.
Regards Hendrik

Thanks for the tip guys. I actually purchased paints from CNA, i think its called Dala paints, Ivory and Maroon and it turned out pretty good I must say. Regarding the CNA issue I hope its positive, alternatively We may have to switch over to postal coz that too does not sound so promising but anyway Regards Mogamad (CJ) Current Build - HMS SOTS

Hi Mogamad. It is not all that difficult. Soak your plank or planks in hot water for 10 - 20 minutes, if you don't have a plank bender to score slots in the plank in the required position use a mini saw. Fold round a coffee tin or object about the same bend, hold in place with am elastic band till dry, offer up to your build and fit. Another method is the same as above and fit to your build, semi pin in place and allow to dry. When dry, glue and fit. I personally soak and bend with a soldering iron while wet to achieve the right shape. If it is a slight bend, steam can help, from a kettle or steam machine. Just be careful steam can burn as well as the soldering iron. All the above ideas are not mine, but what has been suggested on the forum. Hope it helps. Hi Mogamad, there are many ways to achieve the desired results and a good tip would be to read a few of the diaries relating to other builds.... My preferred method is the use of steam from the kettle, holding the strips using long nosed pliers. If it is hardwood then I have been known to put the planks into a pressure cooker but not allowing the planks to touch the water at the bottom, this has also worked for me.... .. Am sure with a little trial and error, a little research and you will find your own preferred method.... .. Good luck and keep at it.... Regards Alan

Hey Hans,
Yip, durbanite here as well.
As a complete newbie to models, i only know of hobbietech in Westville, was gobsmacked and in awe of all the awesome stuff they had, but if there is any other stores i might be missing out on?
Looking forward to the build ahead.

Hi to all Compliments of the season to all SotS builders. I have returned from Mali and am busy completing the Victory, busy with the ratlines. To date I have received up to Issue 36 as well as the free gift (small power tool in case). I receive my order from Jacklin and to date have had no problems even with the postal system. I am busy reading what the rest of the builders are up to and as soon as I have finished the Victory, a build log will be started. Cheers Andre Current Build: HMS Victory
Built: HMS Bounty
Next Build: Sovereign of the Seas Started collecting. Redrawing of plans for Santisima Trinidad for a scratchbuild. Santisima Trinidad - waiting for launch.
