BigGrin Hi All
3rd pack arrived this morning, it contains the last of the cuirass side plates just the back plates left here, the shoulder pieces and more tasset plates to lace together. Also in this months issue's are the 1st parts to the wooden stand, the parts are well made and finished off, any preparation can be kept to a minimum but will need a coat of laquer or varnish just to finish them off.
Progress so far and more to follow
Regards

BigGrin Hi All
More progress, another tasset is now fitted to the cuirass so 8 more to go and the next tasset is half way to compleation. Both the shoulder pieces are now finished with the special knots a tip here is there is a thick wire connecting rod that joins the pieces together slightly bending this rod will help in its placement.
The parts of the stand that have been supplied are now fitted together and have been clear varnished the first pic shows the base before any varnish was applied. Just the start of the helmet neck guard pieces to do now so more posts soon
regards

Looking good Andy. The stand base comes up a treat with that grain. I hope that the knots I do on the shoulder armour look at good as yours do

BigGrin Hi All
Last update for this month, the two neck guards have now been joined using the laces, a word of warning here the supplied lace is just long enough to get the 9 laces needed for this section so be carefull when cutting to length. I also found that lacing up the whole of the second neck guard and then adjusting to fit was easyer than doing each one individually.
Regards

BigGrin Hi Alan
When you first start on the lacing's its quite a learning curve, especialy the making of the pointed tips to get the laces through the holes. I have found it easyer and quicker to do as I have progressed with it. Thanks for your comments much appreciated as usual

Hi Andy

THis is looking good man!

When putting the neck guard together did you have to ben the second metal part in any way or put pressure on it to get it into the right place.

I have been looking on the samurai info PDF at the helmet closeups and I can't seem to get it just right at the front ends

BigGrin Hi James
I know the problem your talking about as the two parts want to go in there own directions as you lace them up.
What I did or how I did it was to follow the numbered pattern as in the instructions then when all the laces are in position and fully threaded through all the holes you can adjust the length and position of each lace to get the neck guard in the correct place. Doing it this way uses the tension of the laces to hold the plates in place, Hope this is of help

BigGrin Hi All
More bits in the post to add, placed the 3 helmet strap holders on the helmet then I added the 3rd plate to the neck guard and made up the 2 pieces supplied this month of the 3 part backplate. Then proceeded to make up the 4th set of tassets and attached it to the side armour.
Also this month more stand parts were supplied so these have been varnished and made up, there is still more to do this month so more pics to follow
regards
