Hi Karl, nice idea to plank the decks in two halves off the ship.... Did you encounter any problems fitting the decks after they were planked??.... She really is coming along and taking shape now.... Regards Alan

HI ALAN, no probs really, just be careful of the joins,as it is only .5mm planking, it is not much support. just take your time trimming each half to fit. It is much much easier to sand and varnish this way. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

++moving on to the small decks, this is where you see if you have planked the gunwales correctly, adjustment is possible at this stage, also would recommend that you READ tomicks official build at this point,as there are some typo's in the instructions. karl1113 attached the following image(s): Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

hi alan and claret, as it is only facing the small decks not bothered to put up any pics, there seems to be very little interest in my progress as it is very slow and as instructed, there is more interest in the others that are not following the official builds, so will put up pics once a month, more progress can be seen that way. Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

ok martyn and alan, here's this weeks effort. I've used the amati plank cutter to good effect here, to keep the planks uniform. again I used lime(bass) wood instead of cane(bambo). karl1113 attached the following image(s): Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Hi Karl, always nice to see your work and your builds progressing.. .. well done.. I'm actually toying with the idea of planking those facings in walnut but darkened down with a walnut stain... can always paint over black if it doesn't turn out, food for thought... .. Now off to have a look at your San Filipe.., keep posting... Regards Alan
