Jase, I now have the Pontos Etch Blushing Blushing which has really nice Booms included. So I probably won't be using the German ones, so if you want them, you can have them FOC. Let me know.

Yes of course no problem Jase, PM me your address and I'll pop them in the post, it would be great for them to go to a good home, rather than gathering dust here.

As for the Pontos set, it's very, very impressive, particularly for things like the Masts, Catapult, Crane etc. But I've not spent a lot of time with it, as I'm currently concentrating on the SOTS. I'm just waiting to see what they come up with for the advanced set.

Aft Main Deck Superstructure
Total build time 174 hours

Not finding much time at the model desk at the moment but have managed to progress Bismarck a little. all the etch is now added to the aft superstructure and the dark grey paint added, so I am ready for the light grey.

I have also plaid around with the Paravanes. There are 8 of these the kit version is a single plastic piece MK1 have a complex set of etch and loverly brass bodies and Eduard have etch that upgrades the kit parts. There is more detail with the Eduard and I was going to add the additional detail to the MK1 but I have found the MK1 Paravanes to be over size. also much more fiddly to build and very difficult to set the tail. So I have gone with the Eduard etch which I think looks closer to the real thing anyhow.

Lovely work as always Jase and I admire you for sticking at it with all this etch work mate, most of which looks very tiny and it's bad enough when using just ONE set of etched parts, but cross matching with several manufacturers' products on a very detailed build such as this one must be an absolute nightmare for you - I take my hat off to you!! Drool Blink

I reckon you'll be a fully qualified Micro Surgeon by the time you've finished this build? Keep up the great work mate!? CoolThumpUp

Hi, No I dont but i have managed to get a number of pics from the book which was very handy when detailing the funnel. I am keeping my eye out for it but as you say seams to be out of stock possibly out of print at the moment.

Fitting lower superstructure
Total build time 182 hours.

I have painted the lower aft superstructure using my new found airbrush skills (I know get me Flapper )

Once dry that allows me to fix the deck. Word of warning at this point I had some issues removing the backing film around the hanger area. the deck hear is very fragile. I had started at the main gun end when fitting the deck peeling the film as i went, on reflection starting at the catapult end may be a better option.

With this done I could fix the lower superstructure in place. fit is good with no issues with the decking overlay fowling the fit. The aft section goes in first as the forward section locks onto the rear deck at the catapult joint.

The vents that I had perviously painted could now be fitted. some of these were a bit tight so I had to pear away some plastic to get a nice fit, these vents have a camber so ensure you get the correct orientation sloping away from the bulkhead.

The MK1 set provides a replacement brass catapult. the base section fits together easily and is ready for painting prior to fitting. I plan to have one catapult extended and the other stowed.

I have the Eduard Bismarck set 6 catapult that provides the gantries for access to the catapult when extended. it is very nicely crafted and construction was relatively straight forward. I did find the chain railing a bit tricky and broke a couple of pieces. i would recommend cutting the longer chain into two parts at a chain rail post to make it more manageable to fit. I still have to tidy mine up but you get a good impression of her when fitted.

A word of warning at this point the Eduard catapult walkways do not account for the MK1 ribs (parts G7) the MK1 parts will have to be modified to fit them around the walkway.
