Stage 27 - Contains connecting rods, eccentric rods & arms, bushes and screws.
In order to fit the connectiong rod, you will need to remove the crosshead cover plate. Use the wrench provided at stage 17 to remove the bolts.
Take the connecting rods and remove any burrs with a fine file.
Position the aft end of the left connectiong rod over the pin of the third wheel set, then forward end onto the pin within the crosshead box, then replace the crosshead plate and secure with its bolts.
Lift the connecting rod off of the pin of the third wheel set and place a brass bush from stage 25 over the pin and into the hole of the coupling rod. Place a bush from this stage over the pin and then fit the connecting rod over the bush.
Place the ecentric arm over the end of the pin then inset a 2x7mm screw into the unthreaded side of the arm, gently righten until it grips the pin, (the arm wil be set in position in the next stage).
Use a screw to identify the outer side and inner side of the eccentric rod. Align the hole at the aft end of the rod with that of the eccentric arm and secure with a flat head screw.
Use masking tape to temporarily hold the eccentric rod onto the connecting rod until the next stage.
