Hi Dominic,

I did not measure the paint, but put small drops of water and mixed until the 'milky' effect was achieved. Not very sceintificLOL

Hi Alan, Nigel & Admiral,

Thanks for your kind positive comments. I am pleases with the result, and now waiting for the courage to do the main hull white.

The red ochre, on the canon port surrounds looks great. I will post pics later this evening.

Hi,

I decided to tree-nail the gunwale's before painting and fitting. I then spray painted them matt black. I had previously measured and cut all the gunwales ready for fitting. the pics show a few of them.

Hi,

I had opted for the 1mm CMB gratings and thought I would show a photo comparing the 2mm build grates to the 1mm build grates. The 1mm are of a far better quality.

Fabulous work ClaretCool Cool I think the caldercraft 1mm compared to the standard ones are like chaulk and cheese. The only hassle I find with the 1mm ones is that whatever timber they are made of,it's ROCK hardLOL
Kind Regards Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for looking in.

Yes, the 1mm wood is extremely hard, but well worth the perseverance of cutting.

Thanks Hans & Kobus,

The only issue with the 1mm grating is the largest size available is 33mm square.

Some modifying of the bow beak is required, but the deck openings look like they maybe okay.
Confused

Nice work Claret...Cool Cool .. As you say, 1mm grating kits only come in a size to cover 33mm, rather than modify the deck framing I am now looking at modifying the gratings by using 2 sets to extend the size.... will see how it turns out before I go modifying the framing.....Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

Thanks.

Will be interesting. I thought of doing that with the grates, but thought it was a lot more work. That said, modding the frame a lot more work aswellLOL I think any mod turns out that wayBigGrin

Look forward to seeing the results.

Hi,

I have now finished the hull painting in dull white from the admiralty SOTS set. Airbrushed it after buying a compressor, giving a few coats, but did the last coat by brush.

Results below:

Also started lining the gun ports. Airbrushed in red Ochre before cutting and gluing into place.

I am happy with the outcome of the white hull.

Lovely work Claret, superb job you are making of lining the gun ports... found that part of the build to be very tedious after a while but got there in the end as you will... Cool Cool .. Keep it going...

Hi,

Now the hull is finished, I started on the gunwales. I have only glued the first part of the top side of the port side.

Glued in place, but used the Hornby railtrack pins to hold in place. Being black, I left the heads on to hold the gunwale better and also, they look like studs.

My progress so far shown below:
