Hi All,  Just marked out one side with top edge,gun ports and entry port and have a question  . The guide lines along the hull obviously rise toward the stern, so my question is, do you cut the bottom edge of a port exactly to the line or do you make it horizontal to the base? If cut to the line then the sides of the ports will be very slightly off the vertical. You assume right about the line and as I thought, but needed confirmation was as you say, that the ports should be in a vertical plane. This was causing me some issues as well. Maybe it's an optical illusion, but the upward curve of the stern makes the ports look more curved. So I knocked up a crude diagram. Is this how the ports must be cut?

Hi Rob IMHO if the deck which the canons sit on slopes up the gunports will need to as well, as the canons will protrude thru the gunports at different levels or maybe not at all

I kind of see what you mean. but I look at some models, and it seems to my eye that the rear gunports are going like this:  As I say, maybe the general slope of the sterm causes an optical illusion, but I would just like confirming which of these is the correct way.

You are both correct as the deck curves upwards the gunports follow it.Your sketch Rob is spot on as to what you are trying to achieve.

The second sketch is wrong Rob,the sides must remain plumb and the top and bottom horizontal.The only ship I know of where the ports tilt with the deck,is the swedish Vasa
