Hi Everyone  . I am after some bamboo planks after making a mistake so does anyone have any that i could buy from them please also i have just bought an electric plank bender and wondered what the process of using it was ie:- dampen planks or not. Thanks for any help on these two questions would be much appreciated. Best regards all. Mark

BambooYou can back order from your news agent. Its expensive if you need alot of strips. Mr T notes that you would not find any quality bamboo on the market. Electric BenderIf using an electric bender, its better to soak the strips before bending it. When it becomes dry, it can easily burn the wood. The thinner the strips, the quiker they dry out and are more likely to burn. Its wise to bend the left and rigt hand side simutaneously to get a mirror image. Some people use ammonia to soak the planks as it interact with the chemicals in the wood (too smelly  ) "Rather try and fail than had failed to try".Sovereign of the Seas Model Space forum: Marcel's build

You should get far more bamboo supplied than you need.

Hi Everyone. Thanks to Benny, Marcel and Captain David. Thanks Marcel for the advice on the plank bender . This is one of the reasons what i  about this website is that there are so many great people on here. Hi Mark, another thing to look out for on the bamboo.... take the strip and bend it a little in both directions in your hands, you will find it bends easier one way than the other..... the easier side is the way you should bend your planks.....  .. I simply used steam from a kettle first identifying the easier way the plank would bend....  Hope it helps... Regards Alan
