Hi all, Due to warpage i need to unglue my keel. Any ideas as to the best way to go about this?  Would heating it up under wifey's iron do the job, d'ya think???

How bad is it and what part? to be honest you can get away with a lot with filler blocks once we start glueing the frames.

Best way to unglue is to warm up with an iron, which will soften the glue. Trust me I had to through warpage.

Hi Colin, It is noticable, and warped on both planes, ie horizontal & vertical.  I think that seeing as i have now received my replacement (thanks Customer Care!)i might as well use them. I would rather do that than rue the decision later, and it's always better to have the keel straight now than wish it was later. Chris, that was what i thought, but good to have a second opinion.

Assuming you used PVA, Colin is spot on. Warm it with an iron, and winkle a knife blade underneath - it should come off without damaging either part.

Hi Mark, That's exactly what i did, and it came apart a treat  New Bow Keel fitted and looking STRAIGHT!!! If i hadn't done it i would have always known it was there and always have worried about it. As Colin has said, i could have tried to pack it out, but as we are paying good bucks for this model, it needs to be right (or as right as MY skills can get it!)

or you can run the hot tap and place your glued part under it and gently wiggle it cheers benny
