Hi All,

Once the matt black paint had dried, I cut the doors from a strip of Sapele and sanded them with fine grade sand paper.

the door fittings were cut and filed, and glued to the doors before fitting them. This was fiddly, but seemed much easier and doing it whilst the bulkhead and doors were fitted to the ship.

I then glued the whole assembly to the front of the ship.

I am pleased with the result.

Regards
Claret

Hi all,

Whilst waiting for the gallery frames to dry, I did some work on the bow beak. I decided to glue the 3mm strip prior to fitting the beak, as this looked the easier option, but was still fiddly.

Further updates to follow.

Thanks for looking in.

Hi Martyn & Nigel,

Thanks for your nice comments.

The doors were tricky. Made from a Sapele strip. I had a crescent shaped scalpel blade that was used to cut the shape at the top of the door in one cut.

Copper wire painted gold for the hinges.

Claret

Hi,

More progress on the galley.

I had been let down by CMB and have still not received the diamond mesh after a month, so I used the stock mesh supplied with the model, but cut them into 10mm lengths. These lengths were turned through 45 degrees and cut to fit over the window opening without overlapping on the next mesh. This I think gave a more realistic 'leaded window' effect.

The sides were glued and clamped into place and sanded down once the glue had cured.

Thanks for looking in.

Claret

Hi,

Glued the beak into place, and added the strips to it at the bow bulk head just to tidy and finish it off.

Also fitted the bottom side piece. This I found to be difficult, even after soaking the piece in hot water and clamping over night to but a curve into it.

Result below.

Thanks for looking in.
