Thanks for the comments guys. Just to let you know I am still progressing with this but slow going as I still receive the parts each month so im restricted to how fast I can go. Anyway, I have now painted all 80 something HAT figures and completed the main and fore mast and all 6 yards for these 2 masts. The mizzen mast must come a lot later in the build. I have now wrapped these up and put them away for a while to keep them safe as its back to work on the hull now. More pics soon. stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Just completed the entrance canopies on issue 74. After painting the trim gold as suggested in the guide, I though the channel between the two gold trim lines on the canopy supports was a bit plain so I decided to add a little more detail. I painted 1 piece of solder black and another gold and made a twist, I then pressed these into the recessed channel, sized them up first and then glued them in. The solder bends nicely to fit the parts and can be trimmed with a blade. A little coat of gloss varnish to complete! stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Hi Stevie, Earlier on in your build you mentioned that you used "weather it" on your deck planking, as well as Danish oil. I think that your deck planking is absolutely stunning and just wondered if you had any more info on the "weather it" and Danish oil. We are a little isolated in South Africa .I'd like to find out if there is anywhere here that I could get the stuff. Love your Victory Present Build: San Fransisco II, 1/32 Lancaster Bomber

Thanks all so much for the nice comments, more pics to come soon when i get my next installment. Re. The deck planking, this is what i did exactly - After the deck were smoothed down I applied a 50/50 mix of "weather it" and water. I got mine from ebay from this seller - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Weath...&hash=item589b024322it does seem expensive but it will last you for years and many models! This was left to age the wood overnight then I painted on the Danish oil. You can get this in many brands but i used the cheapo one at Wilkos for about £4 for big tin, this will also last you for many models. I know you wont get the exact one if you are in SA but here is the one i got so you can get an equivilent - http://www.wilko.com/garden-fur...65151?VBMST=danish%20oilThen, the next day I did 2 coats of waterbased matt varnish, this dries very fast and i did both coats a hour apart - any varnish will do im sure but again i went for "cheap" and got wilkos here - http://www.wilko.com/interior-w...017?VBMST=matt%20varnishThe varnish, although says matt will add a very slight sheen to the wood, a little more on each coat, i liked the effect after 2 coats so stopped there. Hope all this helps Cheers Steve
