Hi

If you have a damaged drill, can you let customer services know from the Ask a Question section here so that log the requests, and send out a replacement.

Select 'HMS Victory' from the 'Magazine Title', not 'Model Space'.

Thanks

Admin

Lets hope enough people report the fault on this link...

Hi Shipwrights,
My Archimedean drill will not grip the drills without being tightened by pliersCursing Archimedes was better than this, I think we may have been Archimedean screwed.LOL Some of you seem to have been shaftedLOL
Verdict?Angry
Cheap and nasty, and not sure how the collate's grip could be improvedLOL Is this common to all the straight ones? Would returning it achieve anything? So nil point on the so called "gifts" (Price included items) to date. Starting to wonder if this subscription is worth it. I hope we shall not end up having to press-gang a decent crew as well.LOL

It's funny how some forum members seem to be having lots of problems. I must have been one of the lucky ones(?) All issues arrived on schedule if you alllow 7-10 days between subscription announcement and post arriving!

Following your observations Tarbrush, I thought I would take another look at my toolkit. Had it a week and not really had an excuse to use it yet. I have just tried the archimedian screw drill. Mine, I'm glad to say is straight, I used the supplied drill bit and found that it tightened OK by hand and then had a mad few minutes drilling into anything I could get my hands on. i.e. the ply wood from the boat jig, some hardboard and even a piece of hard plastic. The drill worked a treat on each of them. So I can now choose between dremel power, archimedian power, or simply twisting my pin vice (think that is the correct term) when I want to drill small holes.

The rest of the items appear OK as well, would have been a great addition to the build except I already have similar tools for most of them.

I just hope that I haven't spoken too soon with this post and my luck changes!!

Looks like I shall be sending mine back then, but I'll give the others a chance to put their ore in.LOLBy the way what size drill were you using?Cool

The knife is OK by the way, tightens nicely by fingers. W.r.t. the rest not much to go wrong.BigGrin

Hi Tarbrush

I used the one and only drill that came in my toolkit, which I assume is about 1mm, useful for ringbolt fixings etc.

My drill was bent too, I just put it reasonably strait then tried it out on a 2mm aluminium plate and it went strait through.

All my tools are fine Cool

The drill shaft is a bit "wobbly" but I'm assuming that's how it's supposed to be. Haven't had time to do a test drill yet but I'm sure it'll work.

Just a shame everybody's isn't ok but I'm sure CS will sort it soon.

I seem to be having he same problem. My drill shaft is bent so much that it no longer works as a "push action" drill.

Bit disappointed as this "free" tool kit has been offset against the price of the complete build so I would have expected something half decent to use.

Good morning shipmates, don't wan't to add anymore fuel to the fire regarding the archimedean drill, but keep an eye out on just how much you tighten the drill bit securing screw as it is very very easy to overdo it and beggar the thread up? Blink

Yes Mike, I have had three of them and if you are a tad heavy handed as I am, it is very easy to overdo the tightening up part..Huh Cursing
