Hello Graeme, the colour swatch on the site is limited by how your monitor can display the colour and monitors can vary slightly from one to the next? I have several pots of this already and it does look very close to the real thing. As I say, it is generally accepted by those in the know to be the best and in reality is more metallic looking than the colour swatch on the website can possibly show? If thinned correctly it should be transparent enough to allow the aluminium airframe to show through correctly? Dans' rendition of Aotake in this build thread is very close to how it looked on the real thing, since he has managed to retain the appearance of transparent colour over aluminium and it is a nice Blue/Green colour - NOT too blue as some others have done!?
I have subscribed to the Zero myself and I will be experimenting with some home made Aotake for my build, but if all else fails then the Lifecolour version will be the Aotake Blue of choice for me!!
Hope that helps?
Apologies for hijacking your build thread Dan!!

hi Graeme i took the approach of using the same paint as our Japanese counter parts the "Mr Color" range , i really wanted to ensure the paint was as transparent as the real thing. the pictures really don't do it any justice, they make the paint look almost solid but trust me its transparent and the aluminium really can be seen through the paint. i thinned it down probably a lot more than it should have been, but like a say i wanted it to be very transparent. as Kev says the colour on a monitor shown for a swatch may not be exact, so after checking out some of the Japanese build diary's and google translate i decide to go for the same paint range that's available to them, took a few weeks to ship over as i couldn't find a UK site that supplied the paint itself. Kev its never a problem regards Dan Built - MP4/23, Zero, Deagostini Falcon, Model Airways 1903 Wright Flyer, Senna Mp4/4. Working - Mclaren M23 1/8th scale to complement the Deagostini MP4/23 & Mp4/4 on the bench, Model Airways Sopwith Camel.

The problem we all have now is the new laws on what can be posted from country to country as in spry cans of paint which are now outlawed and will be confiscated by customs if found . I think bottles/tins are still allowed though but it still hampers importing paint now Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Thanks for your comments guys, the kit is really looking great, hopefully the P51 will be available some time in the future! Andy i am going the Half & Half route as it seemed a shame to hide all the detail. Built - MP4/23, Zero, Deagostini Falcon, Model Airways 1903 Wright Flyer, Senna Mp4/4. Working - Mclaren M23 1/8th scale to complement the Deagostini MP4/23 & Mp4/4 on the bench, Model Airways Sopwith Camel.
