Hi Alan, If you still have the fret the deck came out of,you can cut the relevant sections from that and edge glue to the deck. There will be deck planking over this join to reinforce it. Kind Regards Nigel

Kind Regards Nigel Hi Nigel, I'm ahead of you here.... .. I do still have the fret the deck came out of and it is that material I am going to be using to extend the width of the deck.... Will add additional supports underside to make sure the deck joint doesn't give way on me.... .. Am sure the deck planking will give additional support and ensure nothing will be seen but I don't think it will be enough support on its own.... .. Work done will be shown tomorrow... Regards Alan

Hi Alan, Love your work to date. One thing concerns me with the latest issue you have brought to light. If the positioning of that deck is approx 3mm out on total width, then what is to be expected for anything above that point in the build. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) Hi Derek and thank you for the very nice comment, appreciated... .. I really do not foresee any problems as a result of extending the forecastle deck, however that said, should there be problems later on then I will just have to think of ways to rectify it... ..All part of the fun of model building eh... .. Thanks again.... Regards Alan

Tonight I got to work on the forecastle area and started by extending the width of the deck... Dug out the fret the deck came out of and cut the sections needed for the fix... trimmed the pieces down the glued and clamped the pieces in place.... Once dry and secure carried out a test fit to ensure I had enough width... Gandale attached the following image(s):
Fitted the dummy gun supports, painting the inner sides black followed by fitting the deck supports in place... .. Having reduced the level of the main deck I now set to work on ensuring I maintained the correct height for the forecastle. Using some offcuts of 2 x 5mm walnut, glued strips along the top of the forward bulkhead support which raises the front of the deck to the mark I made when lowering the main deck.. Gandale attached the following image(s):

Continued then to sand down the bullworks to their correct level an in order to ensure support for the new width of the deck I added additional strips of bamboo to the inner bullworks. Finally carried out a test fit, ensuring everything lined up and was happy everything was as it should be... .. Tomorrow will glue the forecastle and quarterdeck in place and give a final tidy up of the edges before painting the edges black.... Happy building all..
