This model kit is a little beauty and is on my wish list of filler (in between builds.
Here's the low down on this Schooner type ship.
At the start of the 19th century, the United States began to build fore-and-aft rigged sailing ships called schooners, offering great maneuverability and elegance. The Virgina was designed in 1819 and launched that same year. Equipped with a central swivel mounted carronade and lighty armed but also capable of high speeds, the Virginia was used for pursuit and intercepting tasks as a coast guard boat.
This kit features double plank on frame construction and laser cut wooden parts. High quality woods such as Walnut, Beech, Mahogany, Tanganyka are used iin the build. The blocks and deadeyes are made of yellow boxwood. Eyelets, bracers, belaying pins, and cabin door hinges are brass. A pre-sewn sail set is also included.
Length: 540mm, Height: 500mm, Beam: 120mm, Scale: 1:41
