thank you court orchard, delboy, claret.week 54, the lantern to do this week. careful filing is required,I had to reduce the lantern base, the centre piece of the transom.I reduced the rail either side to allow the lantern to fit.also the lantern slot was widened slightly,to slide it onto the transom. the rest of the latern pieces were fitted without any fuss. karl1113 attached the following image(s): Current builds: SotS, USS Consitution, San Felipe, D51 loco, HMS Surprise, RB7, Arab Dhow, Jotika HMS Victory Completed builds: HMS Pickel, Thermopylae, Mississipi river boat, Mary Rose, Cutty Sark, San Francisco II, HMS Victory x5, Titanic Lifeboat, Panart HMS Victory Launch, Hachette Titanic, Virginia Schooner, Endeavour Longboat. http://www.model-space.com/gb/

Looking good there Karl, but do you, like me,think that the lantern looks massively out of scale or is it just an illusion? Rob Nolli Illigitimi Carborundum!!!Current Builds: HMS Victory, SV Thermopylae

at the moment yes it does, but with the sides still to do,I think it will tone it down a bit. this ship was the biggest essex bling job in england at the time. Hi Guys, It does look a little larger than the Van de Velde Painting, but it's not massively over scale. Apparently it was big enough for Ten men to stand upright inside. As Karl says the SOTS was very OTT in all respects.

yes alan, it is a little on the large side, but everything about the sots is larger then life. there's so much more bling to put on,it will be toned down by the rest,I have the plans for a mantua version, and it's even bigger, and to buy there lantern it will set you back over a hundred quid.At mo it is getting decidely back heavy,so need the horseman up front to balance it out.yours is coming on well,so keep it up and good building, most important, ENJOY.
