Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on giving the plywood part of the model a coat of pva or similar when built as far as end of stage 8, I wonder whether it would be beneficial in hardening the wood and making for a stronger framework. cheers andy

Hi Andy Coating the ply with PVA wont really add any strength or harden the wood and it would still be pourous afterwards. Varnish or a laminating epoxy would seal the wood but again not add strength. I am not building this model but i suspect as the parts to the fuselage are added it will stiffen up considerably and may not need any hardening up Hope this helps Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

I agree with Andy, you wont need to do this as the frame will become rigid as you build it. The weak points will be the joints so make sure you are fixing these with Aliphatic glue as it is stronger than PVA. You could also run a beed of glue up the joints for strength but be sure it will not be fouling later construction.
As a general rule the instructions will have considered everything you need to do to ensure the construction is robust.
