I've been thinking about cannon balls and I think the perfect answer is to cut the top of a shot gun cartridge and empty out the shot. Depending upon the gauge gives diffent rates of shot. They look effective against the cannon as well. Sorry no pics. I haven't got a camera. MAKE SURE YOU CUT THE RIGHT END OTHERWISE YOU COULD LOOK LIKE NELSON. ArtfulBodger Previous Build: HMS. Bounty

During a foraging expedition to the art/model shop in Dorchester I was filling in time while the sales assistant was helping someone else by having a general browse for potentially useful items and came across a plethora of necklace beads in a variety of sizes and colours (including several sizes that were,, conveniently enough, supplied in a rather fetching shade of black) Just a suggestion. (not as potentially exciting as shotgun cartridges though ) Schnellboots on back burner

I was going to say it but Stedders beat me to it, I wonder I'd lead shot could be an option? Not just from a shotgun but fishing weights ?

That's a good idea, but how to hide the split in them..place it face down perhaps??....worth a try though?? Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

Just looked in my tackle box and found some 2mm micro beads in various colours, which may be an option for cannon balls. Packet of 100 cost me 90p. Obviously these will need painting and holes filling which may be labourious job, but just a suggestion......

why not just buy few BB guns bullets in black ? chain balls i would just make a chain from a really thin metal wire and super glue it into the balls. Just my ideas :P alternative: Pack+of+10+Grade+100+Chrome+Steel+Hardened+Loose+Ball+Bearings+2mm+diameteri think they would still be shiny after painting black
