Last night, whilst struggling with a rather annoying bit of 0.4mm Ply on the Bow, My SOTS shot backwards 2ft from the top of the printer where it lives and fell nearly 4ft to the floor with a loud bang. We have stone flag floors and not much survives an argument with the floor. So it was with a sinking feeling that I went to retrieve it from where it layCrying Crying
Remarkably the damage could barely be seen, a tiny flat on the base of the stern post, plus a slight dent in the stern back panel, hardly even worth filling.
I'm not sure what the lesson is here, be more careful, the SOTS is tougher than you think, don't try and work on your model when it's not on the bench or sometimes the gods smile on us all.
So we live to model another dayBlushing Blushing Bored Bored

Hi Andy, can only imagine you had more than your heart in your mouth when you saw it hit the deck.....Crying Crying .. So pleased the damage was very minimal..... you are one lucky lucky chappy.... Blushing Blushing .. So pleased my build sits nestled on an old pillow, holds everything nicely but no doubt won't be any good when it comes to masting and rigging.... Cool Cool

Regards

Alan

Certainly went through a few moments of fear and trepidation and could hardly believe it when I looked for the damage.
What I use when rigging is a rotating base, because you need to turn it frequently to make sure the tension is balanced on the masts. I bought it in a discount cook shop (it came with little dishes for nibbles, so you could sit it in the middle of the table and every one could reach), it's quite large. I think you can get them for cake icing too and something at the back of my mind tells me they are called 'lazy Susan's' but I might be wrongBlink Confused LOL

You are spot on Andy, it is called a "lazy Susan" and it works like a dream. Just make sure the lady is sitting on a firm base and you are smiling. I have secured my ship to the base to ensure a snug fit and accidents can happen. I learnt the hard way and had to repair some damage.
