Hi,

I have sprayed the bulkhead section Tamiya Matt Dark Sea Grey and let to dry. The back of the speaker was painted matt black and the speaker mesh Tamiya Matt Aluminium. Also drilled out the recesses on three 'eye' shaped buttons, to put thin wire in to act as toggle switches.

I am going to give it a dark wash to high the mouldings, but have never attempted this before, and will start to put the decals on the instrument panel.

Regards
Claret

Hi Jase, Steve & Alan,

Thanks for looking in and commenting.

I am enjoying the build, as a break from the SOTS when I am waiting for paint or glue to dry.

I am also getting the hang of painting with an airbrush.

Hi All,

A bit more progress, fixing the ladder stowage bracket in place. PE bracket cut from sheet and burrs filed off.

It was bent into shape, cleaned with nail varnish remover and superglued into position ready for priming.

Hi All,

Thought I would tackle the bulkhead that has the bunk bed and cupboards.

There are PE cupboard handles, but it is recommended that the plastic behind is drilled out to give a bit of depth to the handle.

The moulded handles were cut of and sanded down with P1200 wet and dry.

Also, the moulding is inaccurate compared with the screen shots. The two middle cupboard doors are not there, so I decided to remove them. I gently cut away with a sharp scalpel until they fell out. I handed all the edges with fine sand paper, but will now have to use plastic sheet to box the storage area in later. I also scored around the remaining cupboards and draws to give a little more depth to the gaps.

Progress so far:

I then sprayed the part with grey primer.

Thats all for now. Thanks for looking.

Regards
Claret

Hi All,

Finally used one of the decals. I cut the grill mesh parts out as I thought the PE was more realistic. Although the decal set is the one for the PE. I have found that because of the raised areas on the PE, there is some creasing. This is only noticeable at certain angles and hopefully will be invisiable once enclosed. I will give the decal a coat of matt clear which should help.

Thats all for now.

Thanks for looking in.

Claret

BigGrin Hi Claret
have you tried Micro Sol and Micro Set on the decals as it can get decals to soften into the spaces, just a suggestion if you have already tried it sorry to teach you to suck eggs
