There are different claims of wars extended by diplomatic irregularity, sometimes by a small country named in a declaration of war being accidentally omitted from a peace treaty concerning the wider conflict. These "extended wars" have only been discovered after the fact, and have no impact during the long period (often hundreds of years) after the actual fighting ended. The most well known of these is the Korean Civil War between North & South Korea. Bearing the above in mind I think I have come up with a real brain ache of a question,the information is out there but you will have to research it.....good luck!!!! Until 1986 the Isles of Scilly were still at war after 330 years with A:What nation B: Why were they at war in the first place C:Why were they officially still at war. The isles of Scilly were at war with the Netherlands.
In 1648 Oliver Cromwell and the Parliamentarian army took mainland cornwall
forcing the royalists to retreat to scilly.The netherlands navy had a treaty with the parliamentarian Navy.The netherlands declared war on the isles of scilly.The royalists surrendered and no official peace treaty was signed until 17 april 1986.
