I love the modifications, they'll make a huge difference to the finished model Thanks Andy, trying not to deviate from the box build to much but some things just need to be done “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Fabulous work Jase This is even more unusual that your Arab Dow .Looking at the before and after, you have carried out a lot of remedial work to the mouldings,a far cry from the standard we have come to expect in plastic kits.I never would of thought you could buy 1-24 scale carpet! Kind Regards Nigel

Gandale wrote:Lot of work Jase but your efforts make all the difference.... .. Well done... Regards Alan Hi Alan, compared to a modern kit yes a huge amount of clean up and poor fit but all to be expected on a 45 year old kit, but the level of detail is really good “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

A little more progress today. The brass bar has been painted in at the front of the chassis, I have used Vallejo Bright Brass for this. I have also given the Chassis a coat of Humbrol Gloss cote, although i have chosen to leave the springs and rear axel with a satin finish. Finally I have painted and fitted the front axel, this has been done in Tamiya Red X-7, no need to varnish this.jase attached the following image(s): “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

Some more pics of the progress on the Chitty.
The wheels need a huge amount of clean up. the seams are heavy and it is a labourous job scraping the spokes and wheel rims.
The running birds are heavily warped I am going to need to rig the part straight so I can fit the front piece with the grills. I may also brace this with some plastic card as it will be unseen one the front piece and wings are attached.
The seats have now been given a wash. i used Daler-Rowney Acrylic for this 25% Burnt Sienna, 25% Raw umber and 50% water. The wash has dulled down the gloss finish and highlighted the button detail on the leather seats, the Camera does not do this justice.
The Exhaust is now complete. I opened up the pipe end, after clean up it was given one cote of the Alclad 2 primer then 2 coats of Vallejo copper and a final cote of Vallejo Gloss Acrylic Varnish.
Finally the grill mesh has been given sprayed with Tamiya semi-gloss black
Hopefully more pics later.
