The instructions with my complete kit say"fit the chainwales"... Not helpful.

From reading here I see that there are templates in the magazine showing where to drill holes for the blocks. Now I could order a copy of issue 75 of the magazine but my last order is still not here after four months...I gave up going and asking about it.

Could someone please help me with a picture or two..I would really appreciate it. I could try and guess but this part will affect the final look and I do not want to stuff it up

Thank you

Hi, can you clarify if you need help on fixing the chainwales to the hull or actually making the chainwales up.
Issue 87 is the one where you fix them to the hull but if its the templates for drilling the holes then these are in issue 75 for the fore and main and issue 83 for the mizzen. If im allowed to scan any part of the mags for you then I can do this as long as Im not breaking any forum rules.

Sorry, I was not clear enough, my fault. I bought my Victory as a complete kit from AL with an instruction book that is so vague sometimes that without this site I would not be able to build at all.

I can see that there are blocks fitted to each of the chainwales but I have no instructions on where to fit them. In Tomiks build I can see a line drawn and the holes marked for one of them and I can scale the picture up and use that but not for the others.

I also have no clue how to fit the supports but I can make a good guess by looking at the pictures.

hi again joe, the best way of drilling the holes on chain channels,is to count the number of deadeyes there are,and use a compass to measure the gap between the holes so that they are uniform.the chains are made by wrapping the wire around a piece of 5x2mm.planking,sliding it off,and then cutting it with side cutters along and in the middle of the coil of wire.and the rest you can see on the build diaries.
