I wrote to Bisset (the distributor) and was advised that the tool box that should of been delivered some time ago (as per advertised by DeAgostini) has been delayed due to non-supply. Could someone from Model Space please advise when the hell the tool box is going to turn up. The manufacturer should of been able to estimate how many were required based on take-up figures and deliver as advertised. Not happy.Cursing

Hi Ratters
I am building in NZ and should have received the tool box this week. But low and behold they have none and are waiting on supplies. How long have you been waiting?

I've been asking for months! I'm up to my 9th delivery and still no tool box, even though my payments are completely up to date. According to some woman at Bisset Mag, I was told 3 months ago that, 'They are on a boat heading across now, so it shouldn't be too long'. Still haven't arrived. I'm pretty furious.

I've emailed them, asked each time that I've paid my bill which is once a month (so I've asked about five times), and been basically told 'Oh just wait, they're coming'. Last time I asked I was told fairly abruptly, 'Why? Don't you have anyone else to get tools from?'.

If it doesn't show up within a week, I'm just contacting consumer affairs. I've got close to 20 issues that I can't do anything with because I don't have the right tools, and no one else in Melbourne stocks them on hand. And I know that is the case, not only because I searched- but also because I work in a store which stocks the most readily available hobby tool items. They should have delivered it by now, and really I've waited much longer than necessary. It's a poor effort.

Thanks to both of you for replying. Sorry to hear you are in the same boat (pardon the pun). The attitude that we should just wait is pretty poor when they are not even close to what they advertised. And saying to buy them elsewhere just stinks of cockiness and no customer service whatsoever. By my calculations they are about three months behind now, maybe four.

I'm giving them one week and then if it hasn't turned up going to cut my losses and cancel, at least I'll have an anchor, a launch and 6 or 7 24 pounders. But DeAgostni, I still want that toolbox you tools.

I rang 4 days ago to be told, yet again, that the tool kit was on the way. Just like it was 4 months ago. I can abide genuine unforseen delays or mistakes, but this is blatant poor planning that treats subscribers like fools. And that REALLY annoys me. Bisset Mag needs to tell us what the story is, not just have the receptionist keep parroting the "on the way" garbage.

Hi People in same boat,

I got this reply yesterday from Admin. Shouldn't be long now, fingers crossed. Can't say I'm happy, but at least we have a bit more of an idea as to what the hold-up is:

Dear Jon,

The free toolkit remains in production, we have had some delays with this from our manufacturer. We have supplied over half of our order to Australia and so there is still many customers who are awaiting this item, for this we apologise. Our manufacturer is hoping to have the toolkits completed and ready to ship by the end of the year so we hope to have these with our distributor early in January. They have been advised to ship these to customers as soon as possible. Once we have confirmation that they are ready to ship from our manufacturer, we will have a better idea on when customers should receive these.

regards

Hi Ratters,
I've had the same in the UK, but not with the tool box. Mine came as scheduled but the pliers and cutter had rust on them so was possibly an old set.
I've just received the magnifier with grips, and it came with issues 35 - 38 (8 months wait ). Lucky it didn't bother me as i had tools that i'd built up from a previous build. The magnifier , when it came was a better one than my own original which had fallen apart.

Bissett Magazines is absolutely terrible. I had the Lancaster and the Endeavour on subscription through them and had nothing but issue after issue after issue.

When I found out the Victory was finally making it's way down here I held a tiny bit of hope that DeAgostini wouldn't use Bissett as their Australian distributor. Sadly once I picked up issue one, despite it not clearly stating that Bissett was handling distribution, the address and phone number were clearly Bissett's and I instantly started subscribing through my local newsagent.

Not that I needed the free gifts anyway. But I feel sorry for the other members that do.

AFAIK the paint set still isn't available in Australia. God knows what'll happen with the copper pieces for the hull!

It's been a month since the last time I was told my toolbox is "on the way".

No doubt you will all be stunned that I have heard and seen ... nothing.

It's not the toolbox - It's the principal.

It can't just be Bissett. De Agostini has a responsibility to live up to their side of the contract. I've lived up to mine.

I am waiting on a reply from consumer affairs about the legalities of demanding a full refund, and will let everyone here know the result when I hear back.

I received mine on Monday. Others in NZ received theirs last Friday.

Not sure why you guys are waiting.

Cheers

OK, got my toolbox.

Happy I got it seeing it was THE reason I subscribed via Bissett, rather than through my friendly local newsagent - not happy it was 6-7 months later than the subscription contract I agreed to.

The matter ends.

Oh boy !! Having read the troubles that you guys have been having getting your tool kits I'm glad I had to order mine from Aussie.
As I pointed out in other parts of this forum I had a nightmare with DeArgo. The reason for this is that, because I ordered from my local newsagent I could not get the 'free' tool kit. I argued with them that, ok, I'm not ordering by credit card, but I am ordering it. It did no good and I told them that I thought this was very mean spirited.
My newsagent told me that this makes them angry as DeArgo use the newsagents to get the interest and entice the custom away by offering these so called freebees.
But are they free? When you consider the interest on credit cards. I'm sure that there is a deal between DeArgo and the credit card companies.

Hate to say it, but to suggest there is collusion with the card providers is ridiculous!

If you purchased issue 1 via your newsagent, then you could have Subscribed from Issue 2 and received subscriber free gifts, and you can also pay via direct debit if you do not have a card.

Subscriber free gifts are to entice Subscribers.

Hi its not rocket science if you subscribe you get free gifts if you dont then you miss out , at the end of the day its your choice and not the fault of DeAg that you chose the non gift route

I dont see how you come to that conclusion the free tool kit is to entice people to subscribe because you are more likely to complete the series through subscription than through a newsagent. Its an honest offer - no collusion with card companies.
