ADDING ADDITIONAL TRIM AND FEATURES TO THE GALLERY ENHANCMENTS

Well thats all for this session, I will be cutting the ends of the copper rope to fit then adding primer and yellow ochre in due course to finish.

I will leave you with the parts laid out on the Dummy back panel, so you can get a feel of how it will look.

I have many more ideas to come during this buildBigGrin questions and comments are welcome Kind regards Mike

Hi Mike,
Looks fantastic, the only thing I found when using the wire for trim is that there is no room for the vertical trim on the windows once the decorations are in place, I dont know what else you have as part of the enhancement kit but on the standard build (and indeed the real thing) there is a trim surrounding the windows all round. Looking at your dummy setup there is the required space for this on the right side but not the left. I managed to squeeze it all in eventually but just thought Id mention it, like I said I'm sure you have a planBigGrin

Hi Steve, In my opinion the vertical trim on the model is out of scale as is the Gallery, thats whey I had the enhancement made, the vertical trim should be shown no more than a layer of paint at this scale in my opinion.you will see as I develop the Gallery the rope trim should cease at the bottom of the second row of balustrades, (as depicted in John Mckay`s Anatomy of the ship The 100-gun ship Victory)as this bottem of the balustrades extends along the complete length of the rear Gallery panel touching left and right gallery side panelsBigGrinIf you look back in my build diary you will see the painted gallery fitted to my ship I think you have done a very nice job of finishing the models original Gallery its a credit to you.thanks for looking in and I value your commentsBigGrin Best wishes Mike

Hi Mike,
I was sure you had a plan with this and I know the enhancement pack is more in scale, I did try to make some changes to mine more in line with the real thing but not to the scale that you will be. One more point (and im sure you also have this covered) the stern motif / decoration with the flags / cannon etc is way over scale on the de ag model, I have used it but I think a 1/100 scale one would have been better. I noticed you have allowed a fairly small space above the curved trim for the motif, do you have another casting in mind to fit in this space? Basically on the real ship there appears to be enough room for 2 motifs above the curved trim (heightwise) but on the de ag model you can barely squeeze one in.

Wonderful idea Mike, I'm a sparks and have ready access to copper cable, but it wouldn't have occurred to me to twist it like that for decoration.

ADDING ADDITIONAL TRIM TO THE GALLERY ENHANCEMENT

Hi Everyone Here are a few more photos of the parts to fit the Gallery rear panel.

The Prince of Wales plume motif on the top fits in a certain way, the base of the plume with the 3 points actually fits on top of the dog tooth trim as in the photos, I bent the plume at both ends so that it would touch the Gallery at both ends. (it is very delicate if you go this route please take care)

Questions and comments welcome that is all for this session Kind regards Mike
