Today I managed to finish treenailing the forecastle and quarterdecks followed by applying 2 coats of matt varnish... very please with how the decks have turned out.... .. Also finished constructing the lantern, fitting the mesh and coloured acetate, so pleased I filed down the locating lugs near the window frame, made fitting the mesh flush so much easier... Gave the lantern 2 coats of Alclad Lacquer before finally fitting to the stern.. Once fitted I used modellers putty on the joints and painted over.... The lantern really sets the stern off I believe.... Gandale attached the following image(s):

Finally for something different tonight I assembled the 2 figurines and set them beside one of the cannons, they still need a fair amount of work before painting but at least they are built now.... .. Happy building all Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Now there's a thought Nigel, will have to see how I get on painting these little gems as it's not something I have done before... If they turn out acceptable them may just look at fitting a full crew.... .. Your ideas are going to keep me building this girl for a few extra months at least.... .. Appreciate the heads up.... Thanks again Regards Alan

Have now started preparing the ornamentation for the side galleries, starting by removing mould lines and burrs using a fine file.. While waiting for primer, paint to dry etc I decided to tackle an unfinished task. Decided to apply the etch strips to the hull of the launch, firtly cleaned the etch with nail polish remover and once fitted using superglue gel gave it a coat of Alclad Lacquer to help prevent tarnishing.... Happy building all.. Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Well have spent the last couple of evenings preparing the ornamentation for the side gallery, filed down to remove burrs and mould lines then applied 2 coats of primer followed by 3 thin coats of metallic gold paint... .. Have now start fitting the ornamentation taking great care in measuring and lining up... to help with lining up I drew a pencil line up between the middle of the windows, this will be covered by the pieces themselves so won't be seen.... .. More fitting tomorrow.... Happy building all.. Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

MWG wrote:Hi Alan the detail is looking the business kind regards Mike Thanks for the kind comments Mike, appreciated.. Came across a small problem tonight when attaching further pieces to the side gallery in that one of the upright castings is missing, should have 8 and only have 7. Have just ordered back issue of 57 so may take a while to arrive but thankfully I can continue with the build until it arrives.. Have also ordered additional back issues to give me some more cannons, not too happy with the first ones I did so am replacing them.... .. I know I could have contact CS but they would have told me to order through my newsagent and having done that before without results made me decide just to order the back issues..... .. We continue with the gallery tomorrow..... Thanks again and best regards.. Alan

Have now completed issue 57 but it was unfortunate to find one of the small uprights for the gallery was missing as you can see by the photos, should have had 8 but only had 7. Have ordered a back issue so will have to wait for it to arrive. Fortunately it does not mean I have to put the build on hold, things can continue while waiting... .. Start of issue 58 tomorrow, happy building all..... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):
